Welcome!

Welcome to our blog. In the hopes that 2008 is a MUCH better year than 2007 was for the Sanchez family, I decided to start a blog in anticipation of good things to come.

Some of the things that we are looking forward to this year are:
1. making progress on debt
2. Katie returning to her career as an occupational therapist
3. looking for and purchasing our first new home
4. getting pregnant and having BabySunflower

The last one is the one that will present the most challenges as we are dealing with some infertility problems. We are already scheduled to have our first IUI (intrauterine insemination) next week. The success rate is between 8-10%, however for two “normal” people, the success rate any given month is 20% – so don’t let it sound AS bleak as it could sound. But still, we need all the good luck and prayers we can get.

The whole process of getting here has been challenging emotionally. No one goes into trying to have a baby thinking that they’ll have problems. The first month that we tried and it didn’t happen, we were both bummed, but figured it would happen eventually. It didn’t, so we moved on to being a bit more proactive in things. Now we’re hoping that IUI will be the answer to our prayers.

So, welcome. Enjoy the ride. Scott and I are both looking forward to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2008 and we wish you the same.
