Tons of fun

I normally don’t say that about my mom’s visits, but this time my brother is coming with her. That is the fun part.

First, he’s bringing my birthday present which is a brand spankin’ new iPad. I’m not a huge Apple fan, but I will say that I am addicted to my iTouch (especially Words With Friends – do you play? If so, hit me up for a game. My username is EllisFan14). He’s also bringing our new dining set that my dad bought us for our birthdays. It’s from IKEA and I love it. My mom is bringing us tons of crap. Basically all her stuff that she wants to pawn off on us. Some of the stuff we need, like a lawn mower and snow shovel, but other things I just said I’d take to get her to stop asking me about it.

We’re headed off to buy a new twin bed for our spare room, and ultimately for Violet when she moves to a big girl bed. I’m hoping I might be able to coerce some window treatments out of my mom too, especially if we go to JCPenney. (My grandfather was a manager of a JCPenney store, so it’s basically the only place she’ll shop) We need them for our bedroom, the dining room and living room.

My brother, Scott and I are headed to Gordon Biersch tomorrow night. I’m not a huge fan of it, but my brother is a big fan. They don’t have them in Minnesota, so we always go when he is in town. I’ll be their designated driver, and probably do some shopping while they’re there. It’s at a local mall.

Saturday my mom and brother will do their own thing with their friends that they have here in Denver.

Sunday my mom will watch Violet while Scott, Craig and I go to the Rockies game (with some pregame drinks and food at Breckenridge Brewery). I’m taking Sunday off my weight loss program in honor of the first baseball game of the year, and in honor of the fact that my brother is in town.

No big plans for Monday or Tuesday, aside from trips to Home Depot and hopefully JCPenney. They leave on Wednesday morning.

My mom hasn’t seen Violet since early November, so it’s been a little over 5 months. She’s changed so much since then. My brother hasn’t seen her since early September, so even longer – though he Skypes with her sometimes.

I’m sure my brother will have a lot of stories about the drive out here. I could never spend 12 hours in the car with my mother. He’s a much better person than I am.

So, if I’m not around a lot for the next few days, you know why. I’m either listening to boring stories my mom is telling me about people I don’t know that she thinks I should know, or I’m out having fun with my brother.
