I posted a few months ago that I’m a LiveWell Mom. But I haven’t really acted like one. It’s very easy to talk the talk, it’s just that walk that can be a real bitch.
But I am turning things around.
Yeah, that sounds a little bit like “talk”, too. But two weeks in I’m doing well and staying the course. The funny thing is, once you start making changes towards a healthier lifestyle, it gets easier. Once you start reducing your portion sizes, you can tell when you overeat. You learn what foods will help you sustain your appetite, and what foods will make you hungry quickly.
I am using Weight Watchers to help in my efforts. I have used them in the past successfully, and I have failed with them in the past as well. Honestly, it’s a matter of dedication and determination. I struggle with binge eating, and for me it is a daily battle. You’ve heard of alcoholics taking it one day at a time? It’s exactly the same for me. Right now, I’m on day 13. And I feel good. I have only attended one meeting, simply because life has gotten in the way and there are only two meetings a week near where I live. But I’ve been tracking my food daily online and that has helped a TON.
I haven’t hit the exercise very hard yet. I walk A LOT at work. Six laps around our building’s hallways equals a mile. I do at least a mile a day in the halls. I try to wear my Skechers Shape Ups or Joya shoes which are similar. Some days when I wear those, I can REALLY tell that they are effective! I’ve been putting in a lot of extra hours at work the past two weeks which doesn’t leave a lot of time for the gym. Fortunately there is a lot of walking involved with my job.
So those are my small steps right now. Even taking small steps can lead to making big improvements in your life. What kinds of small steps are you taking towards a healthier lifestyle?

Hey! Keep up the good work! I so far I’ve done good with eating lunch everyday. I used to work through lunch at work everyday. Then when I was off I’d be so hungry I’d eat ANYTHING! Plus I’d be extra stressed and tried. Now I eat a planned meal, and take 30 minutes for myself just to sit down.
we have also started menu planning at the beginning of the week – that TOTALLY helps alleviate nightly snacking if you’re just grabbing food here & there instead of eating a well-made dinner!
You are doing great. It takes me a whole lot of small steps until I can finally take a big step.
You are right, little steps can add up to big changes. I think it’s best to start slow with exercise anyway so your body gets used to it! I’m glad you’re doing well with WW!
Sounds like you are doing great! I agree tracking food is important and keeps me heading towards my goal. One thing I am doing right now is giving up diet Coke. I have been tapering down gradually, and am ready to be soda free.
I wish you much success with your small steps! We are trying to do better at eating right and exercising here. It’s been hard and it does take a lot of motivation and determination! That’s great that you walk so much at work! I hope you have a great new year!
Great suggestions. It sounds like you’re doing well!
