Scratch That

So, I gave my notice to company #1 yesterday (I plan to give company #2 my notice on Monday because I have to stop in the office to get some stuff). I e-mailed my boss at 9am and at 1:30pm I got a call from the HR Director making me an offer: guaranteed salary, benefits, 16 days PTO/year, and company car. Yep. COMPANY CAR. For $150/month, the car is mine to use as I please, too. They pay the insurance and gas. We only have one car, by the way.

The salary is $12,000 less than the job I was offered on Thursday, but with that job my pay depends on how many visits I make -it’s not guaranteed. So that $12K could actually only be $6K. Then, let’s assume that I pay $45/week for gas (if gas stays at $2/gallon). That’s $2340/year. Oh, and if I don’t go on their health insurance, they will pay for the cost of me to be on Scott’s insurance. That’s $100/month. So there’s another $1200. Plus, I’ve already worked for this company for almost a year, so I know people there and they know me.

It’s a no brainer. I asked for the weekend to think on it, but my mind was pretty much made up. It will be such a help for my family to do this. Oh, and they’re willing to let me do 4 days a week until Violet is 1.

So, now I have to do the walk of shame with the company that offered me the job on Thursday – at least I never signed anything, I guess. And I still need to turn in my notice to my other company. The one with the Blackberry. I think I’m going to look into getting one for me so I don’t go into withdrawal when I lose mine.

Life is good. Life is shaping up. It took a while, and we will still struggle for a while, but we’re going in the right direction. I’m thankful to God every day for the way my life has been turned around. Sometimes you have to hit almost the bottom and climb back up to the top, but it makes you work harder to get to the top, and be thankful every moment you are there.
