5 Quick and Easy Ways for Mothers to Relax

Being a mother certainly isn’t easy, and this is especially true if you’ve got a few small children running around. They are in need of your constant attention, and sometimes it can seem as if you haven’t got any time to relax or devote to yourself! Even though, your “personal time” is seemingly crunched by the attention you must give to your children, there are still some ways to periodically wind down and allow pure relaxation to take over.

1. Wake up earlier.

Your day may seem jam packed with duties such as preparing lunch sacks, dropping the kids of at the soccer game, and picking up prescriptions, but there is a simply way to get your personal time in without having to cut everything else short. Simply wake up a half hour to an hour early every day. This can provide you time to relax, listen to music, meditate, and most of all, have your privacy before your busy day begins.

2. Treat yourself.

Periodically, it’s okay to really pamper yourself for your hard work. You might do this by going out and buying an outfit you’ve had your eye on, or going and getting a manicure or new hairstyle. Allow yourself the relaxation you deserve while doing these things. You could maybe even curl up on the couch with a big bowl of ice cream in your small slit of free time. These small things really make a difference!

3. Turn to your husband or significant other.

If you’ve got another parental figure in the household, you may want to go to this person for help. If you feel as if the constant responsibility is really taking away from your privacy (and sanity), it may be time for some reinforcements. Maybe consider leaving the kids at home one night with Dad while you go out to eat with friends or head to the local day spa.

4. Make more time for yourself by preparing.

If you find your day is becoming overloaded with back to back duties, you may want to come up with clever ways to doing things so that you can allow yourself more time. You can maybe prepare your children’s lunch boxes the night before, or you can iron the clothes out the night before. Anything you can do to shorten the amount of things you have to do throughout the day helps.

5. Take the kids out to eat.

You aren’t exactly getting away and getting your privacy with this one, but taking the kids or entire family out to eat can prove to be a fun and relaxing experience. Bring up funny stories or memories if the children are old enough, and if they’re still very young, they might even fall asleep early in the visit.

Great tips, I recommend all significant others helping out. My husband always cleans up after dinner, because I cook, while he vacuums at night while I clean up toys.
