I resolve…

As 2012 comes to an end, I am beyond ready to close this chapter of my life. 2012 presented any number of challenges, and while it wasn’t the worst year of my life, it certainly wouldn’t qualify the best. I guess you could say my biggest accomplishment is having survived the year.

As 2013 rolls in, I have various hopes for the year. I’m skeptical of making resolutions because when I think of the term, I think of things that are lucky to last a month. Most resolutions are lifestyle changes, and if you can’t stick with them for a month, it’s just not going to happen. I think it’s important to not set impossible goals – “I will lose 39 lbs and eat two vegetables at every meal and run 2 miles every day no matter what”. Life happens. You’ll be out after the first week. For me, I’m keeping it simple:

Eat healthier – less sugar, fewer carbs, ditch the pop, eat more protein.

Move more – take the stairs instead of the elevator, stand when I could sit, park further away from the entrance.

Be more frugal – eat out less, coupon more, shop sales.

Relax – snuggle in bed with the family until 9 on a Sunday morning, head to the mountains a few times a year, eat dinner on the patio.

Hold fewer grudges – this one is hard, but just try to let go. At the end of the day, it’s not worth it.

And finally… live by this:
resolutions

These are pretty much word-for-word my goals for the year too. Well, minus being frugal, because I am already cheap. :D I hope 2013 is a better year for you and I hope we can both stick to our resolutions!

Great resolutions and at least the eat better and save some money can go together if you try to eat at home more. Which you probably will do if you are trying to eat better.
