Happy Father’s Day!

Some of you who may know me personally or from Facebook know that this past year, moreso the past 8 months or so, have been a very hard time for my dad. He has had multiple surgeries – two major ones on his back, eye surgery for a detached retina, and most recently surgery to remove skin cancer on his nose with follow up plastic surgery procedures. He has also gone through some personal challenges family-wise. Living 800 or so miles away from him has been very difficult for me when he has been in the hospital and rehab. Now he is out of the hospital and rehab, and doing his best to stay focused on healing and dealing with the pain he is in every day. His road to recovery is far from over, still.

He is my daughter’s only grandpa, as my husband’s dad passed away 13 years ago after a short illness. I know he wishes he could be closer to us and my daughter, and I wish the same. Unfortunately, it just isn’t a possibility.

I’m always grateful for having my dad in my life, but this year I am especially grateful considering all he has had to endure.

I want to wish all the dads out there, especially my dad, my husband, my brothers-in-law and all my dad-blogging friends, a very happy Father’s Day. Thanks for being the inspirational men and role models that you are!
