Happy Birthday Violet!

Two years ago today we met our beautiful Violet for the first time. My induction started at 10pm on the 15th and my water broke about 5:30 am. At 2:33pm, I held my baby girl in my arms. She was perfect, and she still is. As perfect as any two year old can be, that is.

She is full of spunk and loves life. She loves to dance and “wiggle”. She loves her cats, and all “puppies” (even 10 year old 100lb dogs are puppies). She loves to wave to everyone, say hi to everyone, and goodbye to everyone. She gives everyone high fives followed by knuckles. She says “bye guys, see ya soon!”

She definitely has an attitude. I have no idea where that came from. When she doesn’t get her way or she’s mad, she’ll slam her hand on the sofa, table, wall, whatever she can pound on. Sometimes she will wake up from her nap in a HORRIBLE mood and won’t do anything but cry and let me hold her. But you know what? I actually love that. I love her holding still long enough that I CAN hold her and hug her without her wiggling away. She loves to let me hold her and sing “Rock a Baby” (Rockabye Baby) and she will sing along with me. Then she’ll bring me different toys that she wants me to rock and sing it to.


She amazes me with her memory. She still loves her Vinny cat, even though he has been gone over 3 months. She named her stuffed cat Vinny, over 2 months after he passed away, and she gets upset every time Tulo grabs Vinny cat and runs around with him in his mouth.

She changes so much, almost daily. Every day is a new word, or a new skill. Every day is a gift. I truly treasure every single day with her. Will she ever have a brother or sister? I don’t know. It wasn’t easy getting pregnant with her. I already love her more than anything, but the fact that we struggled to get pregnant makes me love her even more. I could not imagine our lives without her.
