Freshpet uses only fresh ingredients
I am very diligent about feeding my cats well. I believe in feeding them species appropriate food for a number of reasons, the biggest being that it’s what is healthiest for them. When Freshpet reached out to me to ask if I would like to sample their cat food, I was interested to learn more and see if it was appropriate to be feeding my furry friends.
As humans, we have learned that eating fresher, less or non-processed foods are what is healthiest for us. So why aren’t we feeding our pets similar foods? Freshpet believes we should be, and has created a line of pet food that never includes fillers, by-products, or processed meats in their foods, and no ingredients come from China. It is cooked at lower temperatures to help preserve vitamins and nutrients, and must be stored in the refrigerator to stay fresh. Just like human food, it has a “best if used by” date on each container.
While Freshpet is not considered raw food because it is batch-cooked at a low temperature, it is much closer to raw food than you will get at any big-box pet store. It is very close to grain free, with only minimal vegetable fiber. Because of this, I feel comfortable feeding it to my pack. I served a small amount each day to my cats as a special treat, rather than serving as their actual meals for the day.
Freshpet offers several varieties of their cat foods including:
Bagged Meals for Cats – Freshpet offers two flavors of fresh meals for cats available in 1 and 2 lb. re-sealable bags. The tender, little meatballs are made of fresh chicken or beef accented with vitamin-rich spinach and carrots. Read Freshpet reviews for these recipes here and here.
