Fall fashion ideas for women

When summer’s heat wanes and autumn brings refreshingly cool temperatures, it is time to think about fall fashion. From accessories to shoes, the change of season means a change of color schemes and designs. Here are a few tips to help you make that seasonal transition and look your best.

Accessories

Stow away your canvass totes and break out the smart handbags in black, brown or jewel tones. Aniline leather, faux leather, and patent leather handbags in dark or bold colors replace the lighter materials and colors of spring and summer handbags.

Scarves are a must for the fall wardrobe and this fall, once again, you will find them in many colors and designs to match your tastes. Whether they are made of silk, pashmina, linen or other materials, scarves can pull an outfit together and are incredibly versatile — depending on the color and print, a scarf may make a bold statement or a classic, demure statement.

Silk and satin scarves create a dressier look, while linen, cotton or cashmere is more suitable for casual affairs. Choose patterned scarves carefully. A busy pattern draws the eye away from solid colors. If you want attention focused more on a single color in your outfit, make sure the scarf contains the color in its pattern.

Shoes

Boots are still an important addition to a fashionable woman’s fall and winter wardrobe and there are so many styles to choose from, you can find boots to go with nearly any outfit. Knee length riding boots and ankle boots look great with casual outfits such as jeans or pants paired with a comfortable sweater or jacket and blouse. For a night on the town or a more formal look, choose boots that have more of a heel. The heel does not have to be a stiletto-styled heel; boots with a chunky heel or wedge heel are usually fine when worn with pants, a skirt or dress.

Other heeled shoes, causal and dress, this season range from smart pumps to chunky heels. Avoid summer pastel colors and choose shoes in black, earth tones, and dark jewel colors.

Fall Colors

Black is one timeless staple for autumn, but it is easy to overdo it. Along with your black blazer, black maxi skirt, and black boots this fall, add rich earth tones, burgundies and jewel tones of sapphire, gold, emerald, ruby and silver to your wardrobe. For those with bold tastes, choose from animal print patterns in gold or silver tone.

Fall Dresses

Choose from womens dresses this fall in burgundy, black, rich jewel tones or prints. Dresses at or just above the knee, paired with heeled, stylish boots and a pashmina shawl, in a print or solid color, create a look perfect for an evening out. The right accessories can change the look from “casual dinner” to “Evening at the opera.” Gold or silver wrist cuffs, paired with gold or silver chain necklaces and drop earrings add luxury to the look.

Choose a maxi skirt with boots or wedge heels and subdued jewelry for office wear or lunch with friends.

I love this season’s colors! I know scarves are important and functional but I haven’t been able to ‘get’ into them. I’m going to try to this year because I bought a really beautiful one and so far, it’s looked lovely hanging in my closet!

Boots are a must! I think I found the perfect pair! I’m trying to decide if I should get brown or black.
