Biting off more than you can chew

That is the story of my life this past week. And boy, is my mouth full.

Summer is inevitably busy. That’s just how it is, especially for people with kids, I think. It’s one thing to have your adult social life and obligation, but throw in swimming lessons, t-ball, dance class, summer camp and pool days and you’re up to your eyeballs in busy.

I’ve been beyond busy at work. The floodgates seemed to have opened on me in the past week. I’m not complaining, because work keeps me out of trouble and keeps money in my wallet. But it also makes me very tired, and the paperwork I don’t get done during the day spills over into my evenings. Once I get the 3 year old to bed, which is a job in and of itself.

Then, my baseball team came to town. Oh yes, I am a Colorado Rockies fan, and yes, we do go to about 30 games a year, but my number one team is the Oakland Athletics, and they made a rare trip to Denver this summer. So two of my weeknights were swallowed by baseball, and my weekly day off was spent at the ballpark too, on Thursday. I had Friday night to recover at home – and by recover I mean writing two blog posts to try to get caught up. Friday night after a busy day at work, I took my daughter to dance class at 5:30. My husband met us and took her home while I headed out with a friend to the Toby Keith concert.

Are you tired yet? Because I’m freaking exhausted.

Saturday morning is swim lessons at 10:30, however I will be working because there were not enough hours in the days for me to get things finished and I don’t want to work on Father’s Day. Saturday and Sunday night I have to dog sit. Sunday we’ll celebrate Father’s Day before I take off to dog sit. The week gets started with me cat sitting on Monday night. I am SO looking forward to cat sitting – mainly because I am a cat person, and she is a sweet cat who will help me relax. I’m sitting for her twice a week for the next month. I far prefer cat sitting to dog sitting – mainly because they don’t wake me at 5am to go for a walk.

Next week is looking just as busy and draining. I’m hoping for a pool day on Wednesday, my day off. Next to baseball, a summer’s day in the pool is about the best thing ever.

Hope your summer isn’t wearing you out!
