This world is full of dangerous toxins in so many products. From GMOs in our foods to parabens and sulfates in our shampoos, it never ends. One product you may not give much thought to where toxins are concerned is your laundry detergent. Now, when you consider that most everything you wash comes in contact with your body at some point, doesn’t it sound like a good idea to have as few toxins as possible in your laundry detergent?
Eco Nuts is a unique laundry detergent. It’s not liquid. It’s not powder. It’s… nuts? Eco Nuts, an all-natural detergent of berries that grow in the Himalayas that naturally produce soap. The soap is saponin, a natural cleaner that works as a surfactant to clean your clothes just as your regular detergent would, except it is an organic product and safer to use for your family.
You put four or five of the berries into a washable bag, toss them in your washer (not the detergent compartment if you have a front loader) and wash as you normally would. After the cycle is done, take out the bag and remove the berries to dry.
So yeah, in theory that sounds great, but how good do some dried berries really clean your laundry? Pretty darned well if you ask me! I’ve done about 10 loads of laundry since receiving my Eco Nuts about 3 weeks ago. Granted we haven’t had any tough stains, just every day clothing wear (including a few drips & drops on my 4 year old’s clothes), but my clothes have come out looking as clean as they have with my previous detergents. If you have heavy stains however, pre-soak 4-5 Eco Nuts in the sack in hot water for a few minutes and add the “tea” with the sack and put fewer clothes in the machine to provide the most agitation. It’s important no matter how stained your laundry is to not over fill your washing machine, as Eco Nuts need the agitation to work optimally.
Eliminating all the toxins in your life might seem close to impossible, but there are ways to take small steps to remove them one by one. Eco Nuts is a great alternative to regular laundry detergent. It works just as effectively yet is free of the “bad stuff”. It is reasonably priced at $9.99 for up to 100 loads and can be purchased online or at a wide variety of organic and natural grocers.
