A week from today

We will be homeowners! We close next Friday afternoon.

I’ve been busting my butt working on getting things organized and packed around here, while still trying to keep the house in good enough shape for the landlord to show it to potential renters. Not exactly a fun situation to be in.

We’ll close on Friday, and then Scott and I will spend the day Saturday prepping and painting while Violet hangs out with grandma. We’ll slowly move things over during the weekend and the following 2 weeks, and we’ll make our actual move on Saturday April 3rd.

I’ve moved 9 times in the last 13 years and 17 times in the last 18 years (including moving to and from college each year) so I am ready to stay put in one place for a LONG time. I want to get rid of all the boxes I’ve moved from one place to another and just enjoy the fact that after 13 years as an “adult” living on my own, I’m finally living in someplace that is really MINE.

We found out that we likely have to bring far less to the table for closing that we initially thought, so that is great news and means we can pay cash for the refrigerator that we need. I’ve also worked enough extra hours that we’ll be able to pay cash for a new dining set from IKEA (Oh, IKEA, how I love you and wish you were in Denver – thank God my brother decided to drive out here and will bring it with him in his truck).

We’re just so excited. I’m so excited for Violet to finally have a cute room, painted how I want it painted. I’m excited for a spare bedroom, a basement, a real dining room, and a nice big backyard! Please cross your fingers that we have a smooth closing next week!
